On day 7, The Prince of grass court tennis, Carlos Alcaraz, showed again why he is one of the standout favourites once more, while Sabalenka carries on her hunt for her first title. We now look forward to what will be the best day of tennis so far. Who will come out on top?
Centre Court (1:30pm)
Alex de Minaur (AUS) 11 vs Novak Djokovic (SRB) 6 – Alex De Minaur has looked a force to be reckoned with this year, dismantling his last three opponents. And how is he rewarded? With a titan matchup against Novak Djokovic. Both players have only dropped one set each in this year’s Wimbledon, so expect an incredible game.
Mirra Andreeva 7 vs Emma Navarro (USA) 10 – At only 18 years old, Andreeva carries on her impressive campaign, facing her toughest opponent yet. Navarro took down the reigning Wimbledon champion in the last round and will no doubt be the favourite coming into this game. Will Andreeva be able to overcome her biggest obstacle yet, or will Navarro carry on showing her brilliance and progress to the quarterfinals for the second year running?
Jannik Sinner (ITA) 1 vs Grigor Dimitrov (BUL) 19 – Sinner is yet to show any signs of weakness so far, not dropping a single set all tournament, but could that change today? Dimitrov was once scouted to be tennis’s next superstar, yet he never made it past the semi-final of any major slam. Can the Bulgarian roll back the years, or will the Sinner prove too much to handle?
No.1 Court (1pm)
Ekaterina Alexandrova *18 vs Belinda Bencic - Both players have never made it past the fourth round of Wimbledon and will be eager to move on to new heights. These two also met a few weeks ago in Hamburg, in which the Russian came out victorious. Bencic will be looking for her revenge here; however, Alexandrova is yet to drop a set so far. Will the Swiss be able to come out on top?
Ben Shelton (USA) *10 vs Lorenzo Sonego (ITA) – Shelton has annihilated his last three opponents, winning 3-0 in each. His consistency this year, matched with his monstrous serve, makes him a top challenger for the Wimbledon title. These two last met at the last Grand Slam, with Shelton winning in 5. Can Sonego take him all the way again, or will Shelton’s powerful service be too much to handle once more?
Iga Swiatek (POL) 8 vs Clara Tauson (DEN) 23 – Tauson has now proved to be one of the favourites this year, after dismantling the former Wimbledon champion, Rybakina, in the last round. What faces her now? A challenge against the former world No. 1, Iga Swiatek. The four-time French Open champion has only ever made the quarterfinal of Wimbledon once, never finding it easy on the grass surface. Will Tauson be able to defy the odds once more, or can Swiatek carry on collecting more towels on her way to Wimbledon glory?
