US Open comes through its greatest test

Whilst the delayed US Open passed without too much trouble, despite the Covid restrictions, it was a case of bio-bubble, toil and trouble for world number one Novak Djokovic, who suffered a humiliating disqualification after accidentally but carelessly hitting a ball a female line judge, although he has since bounced back by winning the intervening Italian Open. On court in New York, Naomi Osaka took the women’s singles for the second time, but has since pulled out of the French Open with a hamstring injury, whilst Austria’s Dominic Thiem won his first grand slam title in the men’s singles, and is now looking to maintain that form into the French Open. All being well, we can all eventually start looking even further ahead, with Wimbledon 2021 tickets and debentures very much up for grabs after the disappointment of a fallow year.
