An upset for the Brits down under

As tennis re-awakens from its Christmas hiatus, and with the Australian Open only a week away, it’s been a largely difficult time for the Brits down under, with Sir Andy Murray, Kyle Edmund and now Johanna Konta all crashing out of their various build-up tournaments, all with one injury or another, to threaten their participation in Melbourne.

After a series of defeats, one bright British note, however, was an extraordinary result for Katie Boulter and Cameron Norrie as they overcame none other than Serena Williams and her partner Frances Tiafoe in the Hopman Cup in Perth. So it’s not all doom and gloom as we enter the New Year.
